Whitey Herzog Limited Edition Autographed & Inscribed Baseball with Mahogany Case

Herzog won consecutive AL division titles for the Royals in 1976, 1977 and 1978, winning 102 games in 1977. During his tenure as Royals manager, Herzog posted a .574 winning percentage.

He succeeded Jack Krol as manager of the Redbirds in 1980 for 73 games, and then moved into the front office as Cardinals general manager, giving Red Schoendienst the bench job. During that off-season, he resumed his managerial role and held both the GM and managers position with the Cardinals through the 1982 season, during which time he acquired or promoted many of the three Cardinals World Series teams of the 1980s, including the club that won the title in 1982. The Cards won NL pennants in 1985 and 1987.

His style of play was often referred to as Whiteyball because it was built around pitching, speed and defense to win games, rather than the long ball. His teams often had base-stealing threats at the top of the lineup, with players like George Brett (in KC) or Jack Clark (in St. Louis) hitting third or fourth. His style played nicely with the parks he managed in, Kauffman Stadium and Busch Memorial Stadium.
